Preferrably I want a non-traditional mermaid costume. I want one from the movie, like the blue dress at the end of the movie that she comes out of the water with. Or the dress that she has on when she is touring the kingdom with Eric. Or the pink dress that she puts on after she's rescued off the beach by Eric and takes a bath. If someone could help me with that, I would really really grateful.
If you've seen Napolean Dynamite, then if you remember the dance scene when Napolean's dancing with Deb. Try getting a dress that kinda looks like that. There's a chance you might have to make the dress yourself. I wanted to be Ariel last year, but all of the costumes were too small. Apparently I've outgrown the 5-year-old size (I wonder why....). You might have to pass up on the idea too. Last year I ended up being Wednesday Addams, later a Fortune Teller. I had Tarot cards and everything. Try doing something that you can't buy, that you use things from around the house. It'll end up a lot better than you think.

I noticed last October a student from FIDM that made custom mermaid tails and matching crystal bra's for Halloween and sold them on Ebay. I didn't save her Ebay ID or an image of her work. Has anyone come across her website or knows of someone who can make a custom costume?
P.S I also don't sew at all!
there are plenty of costume designers that do custom work from online. you just have to know where to find them. or you could always learn how to sew and make it your self.

I want to be a mermaid for Halloween, but all the costumes I have found online look really uncomfortable. I will be out all night, probably walking a LOT, and a full tail would be too difficult to walk in. I was thinking a shell top, but what would be a good tail that is extremely easy to walk in (not binding whatsoever) that still looks cute?
I'm not sure if you are looking for child or adult, but here are a couple of cute children's mermaid costumes:

If you need adult costumes or more of a selection, this link will take you directly to mermaid costumes on ebay. They have an excellent selection.

If you shop on ebay, the thing to do is buy from a reputable seller (99% or higher rating) and make sure you know what shipping costs will be (some are free!) before you bid.
Good luck
